Associate Ministers

Reverend Herman Baxter

Reverend Herman Baxter joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in the spring of 2005. He was led to this fellowship by the Holy Spirit.

"I'd recently transferred to the area and after traveling within the county, I saw Mount Olive's sign, appreciated the warm telephone reception, and after worshipping and fellowshipping for a couple of months, I knew I (and my future family) was called to minister in this part of the Body of Jesus the Christ."

Reverend Baxter knew he was called to preach while worshipping at SonShine Ministries in Azelle, TX on February 3, 2001. "The "Light" came on while participating in Men's fellowship... I answered the call when Bro. Malinson preached a sermon on Ezekiel 3:17." Reverend Baxter's favorite scripture verse is Jeremiah 29:11 – "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

He is an active member of the Couples Ministry, Men's Fellowship Ministry, Men's Prison Ministry, and a Sunday School Teacher. Reverend Baxter is a devoted husband to his wife Brandy and a loving father to his son Herman Baxter, Jr.

Reverend Ambrose Harris

Reverend Ambrose Harris joined Mount Olive Baptist Church after attending 27 other churches where the Gospel of Jesus Christ was not being preached.

"I thank the Lord for Mount Olive Baptist Church and my Pastor for rightfully dividing the Word of Truth through preaching, teaching and for being an example of what God expects from us as true born again Christians."

As a young child, at the age of ten, Reverend Harris knew that there was a calling on his life. "It is a joy and an honor by the Lord above to be chosen to share Jesus Christ wherever, whenever and to whoever I meet."

His two favorite scripture verses are Romans 1:16 and Romans 10:9 – "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." These verses remind Reverend Harris that it's the POWER of GOD that transforms lives and it's the power of salvation that can make all things new. "My life is all about Jesus Christ and Him crucified and this Good News is offered to everyone that believes by faith."

Reverend Harris is an active member of the FLR Biblical Institute, Teen Ministry, Sunday School, Prison Ministry, and Men's Fellowship Ministry.

Reverend Sylvester Jefferson

Reverend Jefferson is actively involved in our Youth Ministry.

Reverend Austin Johnson

Reverend Austin G. Johnson, “AJ” as he his known by most everyone in the congregation, joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in 2001. He accepted his calling to preach the Gospel in August of 2004 shortly after retiring from the United States Army and delivered his initial sermon on November 29, 2004.

His favorite Scripture verse is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Reverend AJ serves as the leader for our Evangelism Ministry and is very active with our Music Ministry having served as past president and director of the Men's Choir. When he's not ministering the Word of God, he enjoys singing songs of praise with the Soldiers for Christ, the New Direction Praise Singers and the Voices of Praise. Reverend Johnson is a devoted husband to his wife Alta and a loving father to his two children, Aaron and Amber.

Reverend Delbert Jones

Reverend Kenneth Maddox

Reverend Kenneth Maddox joined Mount Olive Baptist Church after the Holy Spirit allowed him to cross paths with Pastor Ellis.

"After hearing inspirational sermons from the Pastor, Reverend Tony Ares, and Reverend Ambrose Harris, I knew that I'd finally found the church home that I'd been seeking for over two years." Reverend Maddox accepted his calling shortly after joining Mount Olive and studying under Pastor Ellis. "I fled the calling most of my adult life. While a member of First Baptist Church in Leavenworth, Kansas, it became clear to me that it was God's intent. However, again I stubbornly refused to move forward." On June 13, 2004, Reverend Maddox stopped running and delivered his initial sermon.

His favorite scripture is Micah 6:8 – "He hath shewed thee, O man, what [is] good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" He loves this verse because it captures in essence the concept of loving one another by treating people fairly; forgiving and not judging others (do justly and love mercy). It also conveys the message of subduing your pride and having an attitude of servitude by being humble and not making oneself the center of attention.

Reverend Maddox is a member of the Men's Fellowship Ministry and serves as a Sunday School teacher. He is a devoted and a loving father to his six children Stacia, Jasmine, Ashley, Jade, Alexandra, and Kenneth, Jr.

Reverend Michael Mullen

Reverend Michael Mullen joined Mount Olive after speaking with Pastor Ellis. "Pastor and I were Army buddies and when I decided to answer my calling, I sought his guidance." Reverend Mullen knew he was called to preach the day he retired from the U.S. Army. "The Lord spoke to me at Fort Belvoir in a vision and I spoke to Pastor Ellis about that vision and the rest is history."

Reverend Mullen's favorite scripture verse is Exodus 20:8 – "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." Amazingly, he admits that he now understands what this verse really means thanks to the teachings of Pastor Ellis.

Reverend Mullen is an active member of the Evangelism Ministry, Men's Fellowship Ministry, New Members Ministry, Outreach Ministry, and the Men's Prison Ministry. He is a devoted husband to his wife Stephanie and a loving father to his three children Stephen Allen, Lamont Mullen, and Kendell Mullen.

Reverend Earl Robinson

Reverend Earl Robinson joined Mount Olive Baptist Church after his wife Selena first started attending. He especially enjoyed the biblical teaching by Pastor Ray and the insights regarding the African presence in the Bible.

Reverend Robinson knew he was called to preach in the summer of 2005 when Rev. Miller and Min. Jones told him to step out on faith and answer the calling from the LORD.

His favorite verse Philippians 4:13 – "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." "This is my favorite verse because I know can have victory over any trial or tribulation in the world as long as I trust and have faith in the One and True God, Jesus the Christ who died on the cross for my sins."

Reverend Robinson is an active member of the Men's Fellowship and Men's Prison Ministries. He is a devoted husband to his wife Selena and a loving father to his four children, Yvonne, April, Kaivonna, and Desmond.

Reverend Randy Shed

Reverend Randy Shed joined Mount Olive after attending several other churches in the area. He heard of a church that was "big" on Bible Teaching. "We met on several occasions with Reverend Ken and Sis. Carolyn Maddox at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY (our son Randy, Jr. and their daughter Jade both attend). They told us of MOBC and that we should visit."

Reverend Shed knew he was called to preach the Gospel at age 11. "God gave me the assurance that He would make it possible for me to speak and proclaim Jesus the Christ through the power of His Holy Spirit."

His favorite scripture verse is 1 Corinthians 10:13 – "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it]." These verses encourage Reverend Shed and let him know that it is possible to live a victorious life through Jesus the Christ.

Reverend Shed is a part of the Couples Ministry, Men's Fellowship Ministry and he's the Superintendent of our Sunday School. He is a devoted husband to his wife LaTonya and a loving father to his two children, LaTeia and Randy, Jr. He's also a proud grandfather of his grandson Tyson.

Minister Terry Williams

Minister Terry Williams joined Mount Olive after searching for a church that felt like home and most importantly, where the Word of God was being taught. "We were searching for a family of believers that loved God and each other."

Minister Williams knew he was called to preach for a long time but he didn't really embrace it until he heard the message three different times and one of those times was from a complete stranger.

His favorite scripture verse is 2 Corinthians 12:9 – "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." This verse shows him God's power in our humbleness. "When we are going through and it looks like we can't make it 'let go and let God' and things will be alright!!!!!"

Minister Williams is an active member of Couples Ministry, Dance Ministry, Evangelism Ministry, Men's Choir, Men's Fellowship Ministry and Youth Bible Study. Minister Williams is a devoted husband to his wife Pamela and a loving father to his two children Da'Onte and Jade'.
