Assistant Pastor Bobby Smith joined Mount Olive Baptist Church, after relocating to Woodbridge in 1992. “We were determined to unite with a Church family with a foundation in ‘teaching’ the word of God.” After prayer and meditation, the Smith family was led by the Holy Spirit to join Mount Olive under the spiritual leadership of Pastor Frederick L. Ray.
When asked about his calling to preach, he replied: “I was called to preach before I was formed in my mother’s womb; however, I did not accept my ‘calling’ to preach God’s word until November 1993.”
Pastor Smith’s favorite scripture verse is Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.” He likes this verse because contrary to popular belief, God has a divine plan for our lives and His ultimate purpose is for His people to fulfill that plan… even if it means experiencing not so good things. “Therefore, when it comes to God and His plan… there is no need to worry and there is no need to fret because… when all is said and done… It’s All Good!”
As the Assistant Pastor and President of the Steering Council, he is blessed and privileged to touch every ministry in some capacity. However, he is actively involved in the Evangelism and Men’s Fellowship Ministries. Pastor Smith is a devoted husband to his wife “Queen Janice” and a loving father to his two children, “Princess Desiree and Prince Joshua.”
