The Branch of Love (BOL) is just one of the many outreach programs managed by the Ministry Leaders and Coordinators at MOBC. The BOL provides schools supplies to families and children in need of support, and also coordinates with the MOBC Ministry Leaders involved with the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, Parenting Skills, and the Streetlight Homeless Ministry to provide Christmas gifts to the children.

Since 2010, MOBC hosted the Back to School Supplies Drive a few weeks before the start of the new school year during Church services.  In this effort, BOL worked collaboratively with the congregation members and the Omicron Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in a partnership to provide school supplies and financial donations to children in need at nine (9) Elementary and Middle Schools in Prince William County.  Over a five (5) year period, the MOBC congregation members have donated more than $18,000 in gift cards to the supporting schools for school supplies and clothing. These supplies and financial donations have provided much needed assistance to help students to be better prepared to achieve their academic goals.  As we prepare for this upcoming school year, the BOL will continue its outreach to support children in need.

The BOL’s Annual Gift Giving Program has brought so much joy to the children in need at MOBC, the children of incarcerated parents at the Adult Detentions Centers, Parenting Skills, and those associated with the Streetlight Homeless Ministry in Prince William County. From October –December, the BOL coordinates with the MOBC Ministries and other outreach organizations to serve as the coordinator to prepare a list of children for the congregation members to sponsor. During the past Christmas Holiday seasons, members of the congregation have purchased over 200 Christmas gifts each year for an average of 95 children registered in the Gift Giving Program. BOL looks forward to continuing this worthy cause every year.
