Jail Ministry

“Locked Up But Not Locked Out”

As one of Mount Olive’s most active outreach ministries, the Jail Ministry provides volunteers who are believers in Jesus Christ, opportunities to “go” outside the walls of our traditional Sunday church service to: teach, preach, pray, praise, sing and glorify our Lord and Savior through a message of Hope to those that are physically incarcerated at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center (ADC) in Manassas, Virginia.

Since its first Bible Study class in 1997, the Jail Ministry has delivered the Good News of Jesus Christ to an estimated 3,500 inmates at the ADC. Several new members joined the Jail Ministry as Saturday morning warriors, along with the dedicated women of the Parenting Skills Program. You can find these faithful warriors every Saturday morning at the ADC about their mission as commissioned by Jesus Christ in Luke 4:18, “He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed.” We are dedicated to taking the Word of Jesus Christ outside the walls of Mount Olive to the jail. Why? Because they may be locked up, but they are not locked out from the Word of God.
