Women’s Jail Ministry and Parenting Skills Program
The Women’s Jail Ministry and Parenting Skills Program provides tools to help women rebuild their lives; develop a foundation for loving and caring for themselves, their families and especially their children; and be constructive members of society and a positive influence and give hope to others in need.
The Women’s Jail Ministry and Parenting Skills Program work in alternating teams to teach classes for the women at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center (ADC) every Saturday. Classes cover a range of topics such as self-esteem, decision making, goal setting, disciplining children, forgiveness, prayer and faith, as well as many others. Special fellowship luncheon programs are held twice a year: Mother’s Day and once during the winter holidays.
The Women’s Jail Ministry and Parenting Skills Program also participate in MOBC’s Branch of Love where the church family volunteers to provide gifts for the children of incarcerated parents on their behalf. On a case by case basis, Women’s Jail Ministry and Parenting Skills Program provide some aftercare such as clothing, phone cards, Bibles, toiletries and periodic cards of encouragement for ADC released students.
